Along with taking risks, I wanted to add my most recent home project. Again was a BIG risk!! You see we are much like The Nester and family, we have moved something like 10 times in 7 years... we have owned, and rented. Just recently we are back to renting after doing a great renovation at a home we owned. So in other words, we lack character! I miss my molding and painting and tiling, etc... So here in my rental I am looking for ways to add in that character without creating holes and headaches! So to the horror of my husband I got the bright idea that I was going to put shims (yes about 50, $1.36 pack of shims) on our fireplace wall with none other than the trusted glue gun!!! HUGE risk!! Well it paid off!
Its not exactly finished, I want to add a grey wash and stain to give it more of a stacked stone effect. I think its perfect!
So thank you Nester for encouraging us to take risks and embrace imperfection!
I did it! Next I will have to let you all know all the good stuff about me, my life and designs! Cause its all going in the hope chest!!
That is TOO cool. How did you ever think of that? It's going to look just like stacked stone when you give it the wash. Wow!

Jenn, welcome to the blogosphere! I'm so glad you took this risk and committed to having your very own blog. For the past two years I have secretly wanted a blog but never did it out of fear that it wouldn't be "perfect" or "right". This past February (after reading many, many Nester posts), I took the plunge and it has been such a rewarding experience. Still sooooooooo far from perfect but it is my own little space.
ReplyDeleteAs for your most recent project, amazing! I love the idea of using such a simple material to make such a giant statement. I love the warmth of the wood now but I could see it with a wash too.
Hope to see you soon!
Yay for the wonderful risk of joining the blogging world! :) This space looks fantastic! What a unique idea to use shims. It it really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe first step is always the hardest, but congratulations on taking this risk! :) Oh, and fireplace is AWESOME! What a fantastic idea :)
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I need to do. Please post more how to or any advice you have. Also, if you paint or stain, do you think it's best to do that before or after applying them to the wall? Do you think the glue will hold up? Thanks for the post and great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Welcome to blog land, I just started mine too and have the same aprehension.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks amazing, I hope you will show us how it looks stained. Welcome to the blog world!
